Edge Strip Bundle

Mic modeling made easy

Introducing the Edge Strip Bundle

The most affordable way to add Antelope's ground-breaking mic and preamp modeling technology to your existing recording setup

The Edge Strip bundle includes the stunning Edge Duo Modeling Microphone, the Discrete MP ultra-linear mic preamp and our native AFX modeling plug-ins.
These three elements work hand-in-hand to deliver a locker full of unobtainable vintage mics and a rack full of classic outboard gear, all for a fraction of the price of the originals

With the Edge Duo mic, Discrete MP preamp and Fusion AFX Pack plug-ins, the Edge Strip is an all-in-one solution for high-quality recording that adds endless classic mic and channel strip combinations to your audio arsenal.

Our proprietary mic modeling technology – first seen in the Edge and Verge mics and the Discrete 4 and Discrete 8 audio interfaces – continues Antelope’s proud history of setting the standard for digital audio recording.
Using a combination of advanced digital signal processing and specially designed mic and preamp hardware, we are able to accurately mimic some of the most famous microphones of all time in astonishing, three-dimensional detail.

Our growing library of classic mic emulations captures not only the frequency curve of these legendary microphones but also their distinct pickup pattern, proximity effect and off-axis characteristics – all crucial to recreating true, multi-dimensional mic behavior.
Now, with the Edge Strip Bundle, we’ve made it possible to access these same revolutionary capabilities using your existing audio interface and DAW.
With the Edge mic and Discrete MP preamp at one end of the recording chain and our native AFX plug-ins at the other, you can audition a range of different mic and preamp combinations, adjust the polar pattern and even flip the mic 180 degrees – all from within your DAW, even after recording.

Edge Duo

Multi-dimensional mic modeling

Antelope’s unique mic modeling process starts with the Edge Duo microphone. An outstanding performer in its own right, this large-diaphragm condenser captures vocals and instruments with pristine clarity, providing the ideal platform for our mic emulation plug-ins.

Boasting discrete analogue electronics and a specially designed low-resonance body, the Edge Duo features a pair of capsules with 6-micron gold-sputtered membranes. These edge-terminated capsules provide an incredibly smooth and natural response that can then be shaped to recreate the character of some of the costliest microphones in existence.

Crucially, the Edge Duo’s two capsules feed two separate outputs, meaning that the signal from each capsule can be individual processed and recombined. While some mic modeling systems can only apply crude EQ adjustments on top of a static mic response, this dual capsule, dual output approach allows us to precisely model every polar pattern on every mic, with accurate on- and off-axis responses, for true multi-dimensional mic modeling.

The Edge Duo comes with a high-quality hard case, shockmount and pop filter, plus the XLR-Y cable required to connect to the Discrete MP preamp.

Discrete MP

Pure analogue audio meets digital control

The dual-channel Discrete MP ultra-linear preamp was designed by Antelope founder Igor Levin himself to perfectly complement the Edge Duo mic. With a discrete analogue signal path and up to 61db of gain digitally controlled in 1dB steps, it preserves every nuance captured by the Edge Duo in crystal clear detail.

In addition to a full complement of front-panel controls, gain and phantom power can be remotely controlled from within your DAW via USB for ultimate convenience.

A unique feature of the Discrete MP is its dedicated calibration oscillator. This calibration signal (6dBu @ 1kHz) can be used to precisely adjust the input levels on your recording interface, ensuring accurate gain matching for the Edge Duo mic’s dual outputs.

While it’s the perfect partner for the Edge Duo, the Discrete MP’s ultra-linear response means it can also be used as a high-quality mic/line preamp for other mono and stereo sources, with two phantom-powered XLR/TRS combi jack inputs and two balanced TRS outputs.

Native Fusion AFX Pack

Antelope DSP inside your DAW

The final component of the Edge Strip bundle, our native Fusion AFX Pack plug-ins serve up a treasure trove of vintage analogue mics and mic preamps with uncanny accuracy, delivering all the character and expressiveness heard on countless hit records.

The bundle includes five timeless mic emulations (Berlin 47 FT, Berlin 87, Berlin 67, Tokyo 800T and our own Antelope Edge model) and three classic preamp emulations (BAE 1073 MP, Gyraf Gyratec G9 and Antelope V76).

In addition, we’ve included our famous Stay Levin compressor/limiter and the BAE 1073 EQ to create a complete vintage analogue channel strip.

Available in VST, AU and AAX formats for both macOS and Windows, our native Fusion AFX Pack plug-ins provide everything you’ve come to expect from our industry-leading FPGA FX, with minimal latency, a high degree of oversampling and precise floating-point calculations.

Hint

The Edge is a dual-capsule microphone, hence it connects to DiscreteMP via Y-XLR cable (included).
The two 3-pin XLRs are colored in white and red.The white cable is the output of the front capsule of the Edge and the red is the output of the back. The white cable should be connected to the “Left” input of the Discrete MP and the red to the “right”. If cables are switched the signal will be recorded as if the microphone is turned on 180 degrees a.k.a. if there is someone in front of the microphone it would sound as if he’s behind the microphone.
